Organic PK: phosphorus and potassium in one application

PK-FLOW 20 is Ecoganic's organic liquid fertilizer combining phosphorus (P₂O₅ 20%) and potassium (K₂O 20%) in a single application. Chloride-free, 100% soluble and certified CE 2018/848, it is formulated for the critical phase of fructification and ripening in all crops: from veraison in grapevine to grain filling in soybean.

The P+K combination in plant nutrition

Phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) act synergistically in the plant: phosphorus is the engine of energy transfer (ATP/ADP) and root development, while potassium regulates the transport of photosynthates (sugars) from the leaves to reproductive organs and fruits. Combining both nutrients in a single product is not just operational convenience: it is an agronomic decision that ensures they are available at the same time at the same absorption point.

During the fructification phase, when the plant redirects its resources from vegetative growth to fruit formation and filling, the simultaneous demand for P and K surges. Phosphorus activates the enzymatic pathways for starch and simple sugar synthesis. Potassium opens the phloem channels so those sugars reach the fruit, determining final size, sugar content (Brix degrees) and post-harvest resistance.

PK-FLOW 20 is a 100% soluble liquid product, chloride-free, allowing application of P₂O₅ 20% and K₂O 20% through fertigation or foliar application without salt accumulation risk. The absence of chlorides makes it especially suitable for sensitive crops such as grapevine, strawberry and blueberry.

When do I apply PK-FLOW in the program?

1

Pre-bloom

Prepare the plant for fruit set: activate root development and load the plant with available P before reproductive demand.

2

Fructification and fruit set

Maximum P+K demand phase: reduce fruit drop, improve fruit set uniformity and stimulate initial sizing.

3

Filling and ripening

Boost sugar transport to fruit (K), increase Brix degrees, improve size and advance uniform ripening.

Crop application in Argentina

Grapevine

Veraison — harvest

From veraison to 3 weeks before harvest. PK-FLOW + BOOST UNIVERSAL. Increases Brix and improves skin color.

Tomato

Fruit set — ripening

From fruit set to color break. Compatible with drip fertigation.

Citrus

Fruit sizing

From petal drop to harvest. Boosts final size and acidity.

Soybean

R3 — R6 filling

Apply at R3 and R5. Compatible with NITROTECH and BOOST UNIVERSAL.

Corn

R2 — R4 grain

From R2 (blister) to R4 (dough). Favors starch accumulation.

Potato

Tuberization — filling

From onset of tuberization. Improves tuber size and dry matter.

Frequently asked questions

What is the advantage of combining P and K in a single product?

Applying P and K simultaneously ensures both nutrients are available at the same time and in the same root or foliar absorption zone. During the fructification phase, the plant demands them in parallel: P activates energy pathways for sugar synthesis and K transports them to the fruit. Applying them separately at different times reduces the efficiency of each because the physiological process cannot be completed without both at once. PK-FLOW 20 eliminates that gap with a single application.

What is the best time to apply PK-FLOW in soybean?

In soybean, the critical moments are R3 (start of pod filling) and R5 (start of seed filling). At R3, the plant begins mobilizing reserves toward the pods: P activates protein synthesis and K begins regulating the movement of photoassimilates. At R5, K demand is at its peak for grain filling. One application at R3 and another at R5 covers the window of greatest impact on final yield.

Is PK-FLOW 20 compatible with drip fertigation?

Yes. PK-FLOW 20 is a 100% soluble liquid, free of precipitates and chloride-free. It does not clog drip emitters or leave residues in irrigation system filters. It is applied directly in the fertigation tank or can be injected inline via a dosing pump. Standard dose in fertigation: 5–10 L/ha per application. Always check the pH of the spray before mixing with other products.

Can PK-FLOW be combined with NITROTECH in the same spray?

Yes, it is a common and recommended combination in intensive fertigation programs. PK-FLOW 20 (P+K) + NITROTECH (organic N) cover the three main macronutrients in a single pass. The mix is physically compatible and agronomically efficient. For foliar applications, verify total concentration before applying in heat conditions or during full bloom to avoid phytotoxicity.

Is PK-FLOW 20 suitable for certified organic production?

Yes. PK-FLOW 20 is certified CE 2018/848 (European Organic Farming Regulation), making it eligible for any organic certification program based on that standard, including equivalence with SENASA in Argentina. It contains no chemical synthesis, chlorides or non-organic raw materials. Consult your certification body for validation within your specific management plan.
